Revived in 2018, the Herodia Series 1 is the first collection from the Swiss manufacturer. They are focusing on their historical tradition with distinctive features. All models in this series have matching case dimensions of 42mm wide and 48mm lug to lug. This size veers more towards a professional tool watch side, an ideal size for a true dive watch, with the right balance between fit and readability. The Series 1 also packs in plenty of intricate detail at a stunning price.

The Blue variation nicknamed “Athos” is made of 316L stainless steel with a mixed finish of hand satin on the top and side surfaces and mirror polished on all beveled lines to break up the radial brushing on the top with the vertical brushing on the side profile. Special recognition of the 8mm diameter screw-down crown which was called by watch enthusiasts as the “Big Crown” of that 1960s era, making it appropriate for the Series 1 Athos. Additionally, both the crown and caseback have high-quality seals to provide adequate 300m water resistance. The classic blue aluminum bezel is a nod to the past, with wide bezel grooves reminding you that this is a dive watch. From the 60 minute markers to the triangle at 12 o'clock, it is worth mentioning as it is a tribute to the iconic divers of the 1960s.

Characterized by an iconic matte blue dial and a flat sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on the underside, the Athos model has improved the retro aspects and synthesized elements that take us back to the technical solutions used in the past, in particular the surprising red second hand and the enlarged minute hand as an essential indication when taking a dive. Everything glows light green in the dark with C3 Super-LumiNova® applied to both the hands and indexes. Powering this new Herodia is the established Swiss Sellita automatic caliber, the SW200 automatic movement, featuring 26 jewels that runs at 28,800 bph and with a power reserve of 40 hours AC. It also allows the wearer to have hacking seconds when adjusting the time.

Knowing the retro style of Series 1, Herodia doesn't stop there. It has been paired with a vintage-style, Italian-made, green leather strap with side stitching, which has a tapered profile from 22mm to 20mm. The Series 1 Athos is an example of well-executed design with high-quality finishing. It is further powered by a reliable Swiss movement and comes at an affordable price.
